Message from our Rector, Prof. Dr Evren Yaşar for Energy Efficiency Week

A sustainable environment and energy are the cornerstones of securing our future. The rapid depletion of natural resources and the increase in environmental problems compel humanity to adopt a sustainable approach. Acting with the understanding that the world's resources are limited and entrusted to us for future generations forms the basis of the responsibility for efficiency. In this regard, it has become essential for individuals and societies to strive for a more liveable world by altering daily habits such as energy conservation, recycling, and reducing carbon footprints.

Implementing sustainable energy policies is crucial for maintaining environmental balance. The importance of using energy efficiently has grown even more in this context. Thanks to innovative technologies, energy production today is becoming more efficient and cleaner, while circular economy models help reduce waste and enable the more effective utilisation of resources. Sensitive collaborations in this area play a critical role in achieving sustainable environmental goals. From this perspective, we are developing policies to live in harmony with nature, increase environmental awareness, use energy efficiently, and act with a sense of responsibility towards the future.

As an institution that recognises careful energy consumption and awareness as a civic duty essential for nature’s renewal, we fulfil our role with this consciousness and perspective in line with our principles of corporate citizenship. We are committed to showcasing best practices.

In this spirit, as Yozgat Bozok University, we are working to:

• Raise the knowledge and awareness of our students, staff, and all stakeholders on energy efficiency and environmental issues.
• Prioritise energy-efficient methods and products in the construction of new buildings, as well as in the repair and renovation of existing ones, to enhance energy performance.
• Focus on energy-saving renewal and transformation processes by selecting energy-efficient products and services in all procurement processes.

Through these policies, we aim to present exemplary practices of energy efficiency and pass on the benefits of saved energy to future generations in the most effective way possible.
